2015 Canada Winter Games Message:
On behalf of the British Columbia Speed Skating Association, our members and our Board I would like to congratulate all our athletes who participated in the 2015 Canada Winter Games trials and the 2015 Canada Winter Games held in Prince George and Fort St John.
It was my pleasure to watch our TEAM BC athletes competing against their Canadian peers and working hard to achieve their best possible results. For many, the Canada Winter Games are a lifetime hi-lite, and while going to the Winter Games is in itself an athletic achievement, the Games are also about the life experience.
I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge our team of coaches and managers who were able to bring our skaters together in a short period of time. To our major and minor officials and to the many other BCSSA volunteers, you all took time out of your personal lives for the Games and did a fantastic job helping show the country why British Columbia has the best volunteers and the best speed skating association in the country.
I truly hope that everyone who had the opportunity to be part of the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George and Fort St John had a great time. You made every one of us proud.
If you have participated in a BC Interclub (as a skater, parent, coach or official)- we’re looking for you! Please take ~5 minutes of your time to complete the online Interclub Feedback Survey. The data will be used to inform a workshop at the 2015 Speed Skating Excellence Retreat. If you have more in-depth feedback than the survey allows, feel free to contact BCSSA Technical Director Chris Acton (email@example.com) with details.
Congratulations to Carolina Hiller and Sara Spence, who each won two medals today in the long track competition at CWG. Carolina won silver in the 1000m and the mass start race. Sara won bronze in each race.Â
