We are disappointed to announce that the 2020 BC Short Track Championships scheduled for March 14-15, 2020, have been cancelled.  Today’s updates from the Provincial Government leaves us believing that this is the best decision we could make for the athletes and for all of us who support them.

We wanted to get this information out immediately but there will be more information coming with regards to entry fee refunds.
All remaining Speed Skating Canada events, including Canadian Youth Short Track – West Championships, have now also been cancelled.
Hello,
We have received some inquiries about the possibility of the upcoming BC Short Track Speed Skating Championships (BCST) being cancelled due to the Covid-19 virus.  Chris Acton has been staying on top of the most current information being provided by the Sport Medicine Advisory Committee.  They have been providing updates every few days and their latest update came in earlier today.  Below is a link to that advisory:
Please note that the Committee continues to monitor the situation but at this time, domestic events in Canada are still considered to be low risk and they have not recommended cancelling any.  The cancellations you may be aware of have been international meets and other competitions and championships.
Taking the advice of the Sport Medicine Advisory Committee, we continue to move forward in our plans to host BCST this weekend in Abbotsford.  We will notify all clubs of any change, but plan to see all of you in Abbotsford this weekend!

Important reminder- skaters wishing to compete for Team BCSSA @ CYST must complete their online Intent to Compete form by 5pm Pacific on Sunday March 8th. Please note that this deadline is prior to the BCST Championship.
